Lucas Terrier Club Show held on Sunday 12th October 2008.

Judge: Diane Jenkins

What a super show! And what an honour to be asked to judge at this prestigious event. The venue and hospitality is second to none, thank you to all concerned. The dogs in the main were delightful, however, some of the older males could be a bit grumpy! The overall type and quality, particularly in the bitches at the show was outstanding. Perhaps a little more ring training could make all the difference in the placing of your lovely dogs.

Class 1

1st Heslam's Langford's Buster. Just 4 months old, a star in the making. Short and cobby, with excellent bone. Super feet, lovely head with dark almond eyes.
Straight front and good rear angulation. Moved well once settled. Best Puppy.

2nd Corner's Breckland Bobby Dazzler, smart baby only 5 months. Smaller type than 1 good front assembly, level topline. good head shape and expression. Should have a harsh adult coat.

Class 2

1st Fitch-Holland's Service's Dougal Macdougal. 10 month old red dog with a lovely typical head and expression, super dark eye and fabulous mouth. Excellent bone and feet. A little long in back at the moment but this should improve with maturity. Moved with drive. Well handled.

2nd Hankinson's Townsend's Hootenanny Another very typey young man with good head proportions. Straight front legs with good lay of shoulder. Showed and moved well.

Class 3

1st Beales' Lyndonbrook Teddy 18 month black & tan. Beautifully presented. Superb head and expression with lovely dark eye. Fabulous bone and feet, super front assembly and excellent rear angulation, a shade long cast for perfection. Moved so well and pushed hard in the challenge. Expertly handled. RBD

2nd Dettmer's Beetle Neater type than one. Strong head with dark eye. Eye a little round which gave a slightly foreign expression. Another with good bone and feet. Very showey dog and very well handled.

Class 4

1st Green's Allfrey's George. A really good representative of the breed, but he need's more training to show off his good points. Very strong head, excellent bite and lovely dark eye. Movement a bit erratic but when settled strode out well.

2nd Hopkirk's Barney. Chunky red dog with one of the best coats of the day, very harsh and deep red. Moved well a close decision with 1.

Class 5

1st Langford's Colville's Luca. Took my eye as soon as he entered the ring. A very typical example of the breed. Beautiful head and expression, perfect mouth and dark almond eye. Good reach of neck, short back and level topline. Covered the ground with ease, in super condition well presented and handled. Best dog and reserve best in show. I was impressed to see he was the father of the winners of MPD & MPB.

2nd Gregory's Frost's Harry Stockley, Well balanced dog, cobby super head and expression. Not the movement of 1.

Class 6

1st Services Kenyon's Teddy Great type and character for his 11 ½ years, could be a bit naughty with the other males. Good front assembly and excellent head proportions.
