Lucas Terrier Club Show held on Sunday 10th October 2010.
Judge: Chris Mills
I was honoured to be asked to judge the annual Lucas Terrier Club show and delighted with the excellent entry of 74 dogs.
I feel we were all aware of the great void in our ranks that has been left by the late Jumbo Frost but I feel sure she would have been delighted by the way that the club has continued to bring the breed - dogs and owners - together in such a convivial and friendly way.
In this I feel that the show embodies all that is best in the world of dog showing. Probably the best aspect of the show world is that it brings together like-minded people united in a love of their breed and pleased to be able to meet and enjoy the company - both human and canine - in friendly competition and mutual respect and admiration.
Because many of those attending and exhibiting their dogs at this show are not regulars in the dog show ring it is this enjoyment of the occasion which shines through. Long may the club thrive and grow and I hope that this annual show continues as a catalyst for the future of a truly delightful and very individual breed.
